On the English coast there is a town with beautiful gardens built on a cliff on the edge of the sea. There are winding pathways built of white grey stones, meticulously arranged to form low walls. Vivid pink and yellow and blue flowers grow in carefully landscaped flowerbeds lining the edge of lush green lawns. Visitors to the garden can take in the crisp sea air and the view of the endless sea.
The townspeople are rightly proud of their gardens. Visitors say that they must be the result of magic. The townspeople would say the visitors are correct.
Under the light of a bright full moon a majestic figure in shimmering robes walks the gardens. Her robes are woven from the most delicate threads of moonlight. It is said that her staff can summon the power of the elements.
Each evening, as the sun vanishes below the horizon the guardian calls the fireflies to the garden.
They nestle on vibrant pink roses and perch on springs of violet lavender. Their light guiding ships safely to shore.
It was said that in times of danger the Guardian would send the fireflies with a warning or to call for help.
The residents of the town slept easier in their beds knowing the Guardian is watching over them.
But over the years there began to be whispers amongst the townspeople. Strange things have started to happen.
Ships were lost at sea. The fireflies were nowhere to be seen.
Some say the Guardian, drunk on her own power had become malevolent. Luring victims to the depths of the gardens where they were never seen again.
The residents of the town slept uneasily in their beds knowing the Guardian is watching over them.
